If you listen to the site, the house will almost place itself.
Drawing is an act of the mind, training of the eye, to carefully record what I see through practiced dexterity. It also helps to alter any assumptions and explore possibilities, to allow for focused study and analysis in order to further develop the design, always pursuing the best idea, never settling on the first . . .
A proponent of hand drawing and model making to self-educate and imagine design options, I believe there is no substitute for a well-made plan and thoughtful illustration to convey an idea.
Models and illustrations take the big picture from the sketch and expand upon the details to show how the design is made real.
I aim to create a feeling and concept in a cohesive manner, inspiring the client with a vision, connecting their dreams, budget, and values to the actual project.
Construction documentation is a refinement of the initial concepts and drafting them in a more accurate way, using elegance and simplicity of scale and style. This includes exterior detailing, interior elevations, cabinetry, finishes, and selections.
Hand-drawn plans provide contractors the details necessary to attain higher quality work as there is no repetition, no duplication. Everything is custom designed for the client. The result is that the artistry and expression transfers to the final product through a pencil rather than computer-generated blocks which lack warmth and emotion.
The resulting project has been fully realized all along the way, showing the process as a complete product.
